Projection mapping, visuals and a whole lot of light
Do you want to merge your creative ideas with the digital world and help create large-scale visual projects using images, film, animation, and sound? Then PixlLAB is for you.
Together with the team behind PixlART (pixlart.nu), you will learn everything about the process—from the initial creative spark and content creation to the planning and execution of your project’s visual presentation.
In PixlLAB, you get the opportunity to create your own digital artworks. You can use your own photos, short videos shot on your phone, or pieces you have created in other classes at the folk high school. In the lab, we will blend it all into a cohesive visual exhibition and plan how to share it with the world.
You will get the chance to try software like After Effects, MadMapper, and Resolume Arena, but you can also create your content using your phone and the editing apps you already know.
At the end of the semester, your work will be part of a larger visual showcase. If you are interested in the technical side of things, you will also get a taste of DMX-controlled lighting and advanced projection mapping on buildings or indoor spaces.
This class is for anyone who is artistically minded or technically curious, and who dreams of playing around with visual design, media production, and AV technology. No prior experience is required for PixlLAB—just a desire to experiment and learn through hands-on practice.
Next semester is Fall 2026 from August 9, 2026 – December 19, 2026
