Knitting, Crocheting and Embroidery

Learn crafts while boosting your creativity.

In this class, you will learn different crafting techniques while training your creativity. The course is designed so you get to try knitting, embroidery, and crocheting. You will learn one technique at a time before moving on to the next.

The class meets twice a week. Each session begins with an inspiring presentation for everyone. This could be about a specific technique, a current trend, a textile artist, or something else entirely.

The class is taught by two teachers who take turns instructing: Janne Kjærgaard Nielsen and Mihaela Breum Vegger.

Next semester is Fall 2026 from August 9, 2026 – December 19, 2026

Teacher: Janne Nielsen

Janne is a trained librarian. She has been employed as a teacher at Vrå Folk High School since 2003.

Janne lives with her family near the folk high school, and is an expert in Vrå and surroundings of interest. She loves everything handcraft and is an avid knitter, embroiderer, weaver and tufter.

She is a contributor to the book Højskolepædagogik (Folk High School Pedagogy). She has taken the folk high school education specialization HPU.

Teacher: Mihaela Breum Vegger

Mihaela Breum Vegger originally trained as a nanoscience technologist, but since childhood, she has shared a special bond with embroidery. Through courses and self-study, she has developed her own designs, ranging from upcycling failed knitting projects to creating 3D sculptural pieces. Mihaela’s approach is experimental, inquisitive, and playful—qualities that also characterize her teaching. She has been a teacher at Vrå Folk High School since 2025.

In addition to embroidery, she teaches yin yoga and meditation at the school and hosts various yin yoga workshops. Mihaela holds a 100-hour Yoga Alliance certified degree in Yin Yoga Theory and Practice, Mindfulness, and Functional Anatomy. She is currently continuing her studies in yin yoga.
