Raw & Refined – Leather Crafting
In this leather crafting class, you can rediscover an ancient craft to create beautiful, useful, and incredibly durable items for everyday use.
You will learn the entire process from the initial idea and planning to the finished product. We will cover all the essential crafting techniques, including:
- Cutting, gluing, sewing, and embossing leather.
- Measuring accurately for specific designs.
- Cutting straps for belts and handles.
- Leather braiding and using leftover scraps.
- Dyeing and wet-forming leather.
- How to handle small-scale batch production.
You will also learn how to work with rivets, snap buttons, buckles, zippers, grommets, recycled materials, and various standard fasteners.
This is a new and highly popular class at Vrå Højskole.

Teacher: Stine Flyvholm
Stine graduated as a contemporary singer from the Royal Academy of Music. She has been teaching at the folk high school since 2019.
Stine lives with her family in Nørresundby. She is a songwriter and a performing musician.
Besides music, Stine is a true knitting nerd! She loves everything about knitting—the materials, the patterns, the styles, and the craftsmanship. She spends many hours a day with knitting needles in her hands! And when she isn’t knitting, you can find her in the jewelry workshop.
